EE Cookout, Fr Sirianni's Induction, Shahs over for BBQ

Last weekend we went to the Engaged Encounter cookout - actually, they were doing a whole camping weekend, but we only made it for the dinner on Saturday night. I wasn't quite up for sleeping on the ground in a tent at 29 weeks pregnant. :-) It was fun to watch Lucia run around the campsite and re-introduce her to our EE friends, many of whom hadn't seen Lucia since she was a very tiny baby!

On Sunday, we went to the 10 am service (instead of our usual 8 am time) at St Thomas More for the induction of our new priest, Father Rick Sirianni. Archbishop John Vlazney said Mass, and it was very nice to hear him preach and be part of our new parish community for the welcoming of our new priest. We snapped some photos of Lucia eating cheerios - one of the best tactics we've come up with to keep her quiet for the readings and sermon at Mass. She is getting better about her ability and interest in the service these days. We usually sit in the very front row so she can stand on the kneeler and look over the front to watch. She has been paying attention for almost 2/3rds of Mass lately - the beginning parts and through the Gloria and Responsorial Psalm (she loves the music!). Then she will watch again after the sermon for the Communion service and walks up to Communion with Alex or me for a blessing. She has been known to proclaim "Doughnuts!" periodically through the service, though, as she knows that will be her treat after Mass if she is good (though she's never been so bad that we haven't gone for them).

On Sunday evening, we had Ronak & Angela Shah over for BBQ with their two kids Victor (3.5) and Diana (1.5). The kids had fun playing together and we all ate outside. It was nice to see those guys, Ronak and I went to LFM together, though he was the year ahead of me. It's nice that our kids can play together now!
