Or at least the Montessori Pre-School is out for Lucia forever. I am actually more sad about this than almost every other part of our leaving China. Lucia has really thrived in this little classroom. She has learned to write most of her letters, she can write her name, she makes tons of art projects and plays games and does activities. She loves the teachers and other kids, and even eats her lunch which includes broccoli every single day! Plus, she takes a nap at school since the other kids do (and she is probably worn out by naptime), whereas on the weekends at home, we really have to go HARD for her to be tired enough to nap around 1 pm. Usually we skip nap on the weekends for Lucia and just have some downtime instead.
At any rate, the teachers at the Montessori school gave Lucia some very nice parting gifts: a stuffed bear, a new doll, and a qipao (Chinese dress). Too bad I am having a qipao custom made for her to wear to the wedding we're attending on the 26th! I could have just used this one! Though it is a bit long for her yet, so she'll be able to wear it for many months to come.
The school had a going away party for Lucia on Wednesday the 23rd, and her last day was Thursday the 24th (no school Friday due to teacher's professional development day). I don't think she quite realizes that she is not going back to school after we go to America to "see Ama and Apa." I just know she'll really miss it, and we hope to get her enrolled back in our daycare's pre-school as soon as possible (read: as soon as Andrea finds work!!).
