Midweek Update - and Magdalena's 1 Month Birthday!

Lucia has been home since last Friday and we've had some fun together. I have recently signed her up for two "classes" at Portland Parks and Recreation's Southwest Community Center, which is actually quite close to our house. I feel like Lucia needs to have an active thing to do every morning and afternoon when she is not at daycare (besides just sitting around and playing at home), plus it is good for me to get out of the house too. In nice weather, the parks are great, but in the winter we've found a few other things to do.

Monday morning we go to "Music, Marching, and Make Believe" ($36 for 6 45-minute classes), and Monday afternoon we have Kindermusik with Teacher Joan for 45 minutes ($167 including materials for 14 45-minute classes, started Sept 28). Tuesday mornings are open, but yesterday was nice so we went to the park. SW Community has open gym (indoor playground for 9 mos to 5 yrs) from 10:30-noon for $3 on Tues mornings, so we'll do that if it is raining. Tuesday afternoons we have "Run Jump Kick!" ($25 for 5 30-minute classes). When we got home from this, Lucia decided she wanted to "drive" the car. I let her sit in the driver's seat and got some good pics. Now she is convinced that she can drive everywhere! (Alex recently taught her that she is the "passenger," and Dada is the "driver." Today she said that she wanted to be the "driver" on our way to the library!)

Wednesdays that Lucia is home we go to the Toddler Storytime at 10:15 at the Hillsdale Public Library near our house (free!). This afternoon we were going to go for a walk, but just as we bundled up and stepped outside, the rain started POURING down. So we ran around downstairs and blew bubbles on the mudroom floor for an hour or so instead.

Today, the 11th, is also Magdalena's 1 month birthday. She weighed in at 12 lbs, and was 23 inches long! She cannot fit into a few of the 0-3 month onesies anymore as she is too long! At 1 month, Lucia was 11 lbs, and I don't have her height, but it was probably around 21 inches long. Magdalena is not chubby yet, but she is quite tall for her age, and is very strong, so probably has some good baby muscles going on there!
