Phones, Bellies, and Books

Lucia loves to play with cell phones. But not just any old phone, she KNOWS which ones work, and which don't. We tried giving her the old one that I used to use as a toy, but she only wants the one that I am currently using. Here she is with the phone and earpiece on! She loves the earpiece too, which is good, because I have read a study called Mobile phone use 'raises children's risk of brain cancer fivefold from September 2008 that states "Children and teenagers are five times more likely to get brain cancer if they use mobile phones, startling new research indicates." The article does go on to say that earpieces are much safer.

Also, Lucia is quite good at pointing to my stomach when asked "Where's the baby?" When we try to solicit her opinion on whether she wants a sister or brother, however, it totally depends on how she is asked. When asked between "Baby Brother or Baby Sister", she answers "Baby Sister!", but when asked "Baby Sister or Baby Brother," she immediately confirms "Baby Brother!"

Finally, Lucia LOVES books. Her current favorites are gifts from family and friends. She knows the "You Are My Miracle" book (courtesy of Natalie & Tom) pretty much by heart. It is a great one that rhymes, and I will read the beginnings of the sentences, and she finishes with the last word each time. :-) Also, she loves The Lorax by Dr Seuss (this link says it is 3rd grade level! Thanks Godmother Kyle!). Here she is reading it with Dada (he helps her count up and down the stairs):
