That being said, this weekend Lucia had her performance debut with Girlchoir. Every year they do a Winter Concert, usually just with four of the five choirs (the most elite, "Premier," does different performances, some with and some without the other choirs). This year, however, they teamed up with the Portland Youth Ballet to perform the Winterglow concert at the World Trade Center theater downtown. There were three shows, Saturday at 6 pm and Sunday at 2 and 6 pm. This is a lot for the little girls! Lucia was yawning during the third performance up on stage...
In general, however, the whole performance experience went very well. Lucia and the Prelude singers only sang in the last of three sets; holiday songs, mostly from the score of the movie Polar Express. Lucia had zero stage fright, and I don't think any of the little girls did. There were very few solos, and the ones they had were short, and the young dancers were a treat to watch (especially when one of the reindeer's "antlers" were knocked off today, only to be retrieved by the one appearance of Santa in the show!).
We are so proud of our little girl - she was a real trooper! And thankful for the family members who made it to the show. The next (and last) one for this season is in the spring. More to follow!
