We had a nice Easter at home this year. On Saturday there was a neighborhood Easter egg hunt a few blocks away that the kids and I went to with our neighbors. The girls ate almost all the candy from their plastic eggs right away and burned it all off at the park afterwards. :-)
Despite staying up a bit late Saturday night after dinner at the Cornetts, we set the alarm and got up in time to make it to 8 am Mass at St Thomas More. Even though it was full, we managed to sit right up front since everyone else thought that space was reserved for the readers (only two spots were, and the Parish helper Beth told us to sit there!). We knew that 10 am Mass would be jam packed, so were glad to get to church early.
I promised the girls that we would have cupcakes for Easter, so we had made 48 mini strawberry cupcakes the day before, and frosted them Easter morning. The girls had about 5 each throughout the day, including one right after Church since there were no doughnuts!
My parents were coming up and had planned to have us cook the extra turkey my mom left here over the winter holidays. Neither Alex nor I quite realized that this meant we would have to cook the turkey ourselves, but after getting over this initial perturbation, Alex did a great job on the bird. :-)
We had a practice Easter egg hunt in the backyard before my folks arrived with empty plastic eggs, and in the mid-afternoon we did the real hunt with 20 real colored eggs that Lucia and I dyed the day before, as well as about a dozen plastic eggs with candy. My mom brought baskets with a chocolate bunny and plenty of other candies for the girls, so we had LOTS of candy to celebrate this Easter (still trying to get rid of it)!
Happy Easter everyone!
Magdalena napped while Lucia and I colored eggs Saturday afternoon:
You can see the tear on her face since Lucia dropped (and cracked) the egg she decorated for herself with stickers that spelled LUCIA:
Again my mom came through with Easter dresses - this time matching and so cute!
The hunt is on! Magdalena wasn't as keen about finding the real eggs, since she prefers to open the plastic ones for the candy, but she got into it eventually:

The weather was so nice!
No hunting for John Paul this year, but he was content to watch from his favorite perch in the Bjorn:
cute, cute, cute!
