That night, Alex was feeling a bit under the weather, so I just took Lucia to the fireworks at Campus Village (this is where Lucia's school is). They went on for 44 minutes straight! (someone timed it). It was longer than any fireworks show I have ever seen, apparently the expats went a little nuts and spent (all donated money) about $5,000 USD on the show. Even as we walked away, there were single boxes of fireworks going off that were missed during the main show. They had to light them BY HAND - but this is how things are done here! No one got hurt, and the adults ensured that the kids stayed far away from the show.
Lucia actually enjoyed the fireworks at first, which was an improvement on previous times she had been near them - she usually is scared of the noise. However, about 25 minutes into it, she was getting cold and ready to be done. Fortunately I brought a blanket in addition to her warm clothes, because our driver had asked for the evening off to spend with his family, and we were carpooling with another family so could not leave early. When it was done, we were all ready to go home.

Wow-great show! Can't believe how long it was. Even long shows here are one firework at a time until the finale .. Looks like fun! Any word on what happens next (after China?) or does the job hunt start once you're back in the U.S.? Or is it just that Alex will be assigned a new position at Intel wherever there's an opening? I'm confused . . .;)
